If you need to repair your Delta Monitor shower faucet, take note of the special parts inside the handle that mix and adjust the hot and cold water. This cartridge is responsible for combining the water from your home's water pipes to make temperature-controlled water in your shower. When the faucet leaks or experiences poor operation or performance issues, replacing this part is the only repair method. Fortunately, it's usually a quick fix.Difficulty:Moderately EasyInstructions Things You'll NeedAllen wrenchDelta Monitor repair kit1
Locate the home's main water line, which is often near the water heater. Turn the valve to the "off" position or completely clockwise to close.
2Unscrew the handle's base screw, turning counterclockwise with an Allen wrench. The screw is located on the side of the handle on the Delta Monitor faucets. Pull the handle back and off once the screw is out.
3Unscrew and remove the trim sleeve and spacer by turning counterclockwise and pulling it off. The trim sleeve is the cylindrical part around the faucet head. The spacer is inside the trim sleeve.
4Slide the O-ring off the faucet base and unscrew the bonnet nut, a round ring on the faucet head, using your hands. Pull the cartridge out of the faucet head.
5Replace the cartridge with a new one by sliding it into the faucet head. If the cartridge is functional but the rubber gaskets on the bottom of the cartridge are worn and cracked, simply replace the old, worn-out gaskets with new ones from the Delta Monitor repair kit. Press the new gaskets around the bottom of the two round tubes on the bottom of the cartridge and slide the cartridge back into place
6Replace the bonnet nut, O-ring and trim sleeve. Slide the handle back on and tighten the Allen screw.
